Bringing up Harry!

Posted by the lamplighter

If you wake up one morning opening up the front door expecting the morning's paper and instead find a scar-faced baby boy in a bassinet with a letter saying that he is your recently orphaned nephew from your murdered sister and her husband, what would you do?

She took him in, most likely aware of the danger she is putting her family into. She took care of the boy whose eyes belong to the sister she loved, envied, resented and ached for. She reminded him of everything she desperately clung to as a muggle and everything she secretly dreamed of
as a second-best daughter.

But she bore it and she raised him, albeit not in the way most people - wizards and muggles alike - would prefer. She was really not the best in most things at all. She might even be the most awful sister, mother and aunt, come to that. But when she took Harry in, just like her sister, she did the world good. She took care of her nephew and nurtured their connection. And that persisted until the boy who lived grew up.
